For this comparison we read the official subscription pages, terms of service, help articles and policy pages for both apps. We compared plans, free limits, advertised features, content rules, refund terms and how to cancel.
We did not rely on star ratings or review-site scores. Where an official page did not publish a number, we say so. We did not test either app hands-on or measure memory accuracy or chat quality. Our picks are based on documented features and costs, not measured performance. Affiliate links on this page do not change which app we recommend.
Candy AI Review
Candy AI puts visuals at the center of its offer. The sections below cover its chat, character tools and paid extras. Use them to judge which features you would actually use.
Candy AI is run by EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta. The charge shows up on your bank statement as "EverAI". You can use it in a browser on desktop or mobile with no install. Candy AI describes itself as an AI girlfriend platform with chat, pictures, voice and video.
Chat Quality
The first thing to consider is the kind of conversation you want to have. Candy AI markets its chat around scenes and scenarios. Users quoted on the official pages describe it as creative and open to different stories; these are company-published testimonials, not our test results. You pick a character, or build your own, and the conversation moves toward roleplay, flirting or a story you steer.
What Candy AI does not push on its official pages is deep long-term memory. Nomi AI talks about memory constantly. Candy AI talks about characters, images and video. That shows a difference in marketing emphasis, not a measured difference in recall. If remembering small details across weeks matters to you, Nomi's documented memory focus makes it worth trying.
Characters And Customization
Choosing a character is your starting point, so the amount of setup matters. You can create your own AI girlfriend on Candy AI, and premium includes the creation tools. There is also a library of ready-made characters, with new ones added over time. This is where Candy AI is easy to love. You do not have to write a backstory to get started. You open the library, pick someone and start talking.
Images, Video And Voice
If you want more than text, look at both the features and how you pay to use them. This is Candy AI's strongest side. The premium plan lists 18+ image generation, 18+ video generation and what it calls the full live action experience. Voice notes and live phone calls are also part of the product.
Some of these features cost tokens on top of your subscription. The official character pages show phone calls priced at 3 tokens per minute, labelled as a beta price. We could not find an official price list for images or video on the pages we checked, so we do not quote one. Check the price inside the app before you spend tokens.
Pricing And Tokens
Candy AI's price has two parts to watch: the subscription and the tokens for extras. Candy AI sells three plans on its subscription page: $13.99 for one month, $8.99 per month if you pay for three months, and $3.99 per month if you pay for twelve months. That makes the three-month plan $26.97 and the yearly plan $47.88.
Every premium plan includes unlimited text messages and, generally, 100 tokens per month. The terms of service say the monthly token amount is shown at checkout. Tokens do not carry over after you cancel, and they cannot be traded for money.
Nomi AI Review
Nomi AI focuses on a companion you want to keep talking to. The sections below explain its memory, shared conversations and paid extras. Consider how that fits the way you would use it.
Nomi AI is made by Glimpse AI. Its home page describes it as an AI companion with memory and a soul, and it supports friends, partners and fantasy characters. It runs on the web, as an iOS app on the App Store, as an Android app on Google Play, and as a browser app (PWA) that you can add to your home screen.
Chat Quality And Memory
For a long-running conversation, memory matters more than a good first reply. Nomi AI's pitch is that your companion remembers. The official site talks about short, medium and long-term memory, and says Nomis pick up your preferences, habits and the small details that make you you. Users on the site describe building a long-running relationship or an ongoing roleplay world.
Based on its documented feature focus, this is the main reason to consider Nomi AI. If you like the idea of one companion you talk to for months, with a personality that grows, Nomi is built for that. Nomi also says what you talk about is up to you. Its help wiki says the team does not want to impose its own morality on your conversations, with guardrails only for very extreme cases.
Group Chat And Proactive Messages
Not every conversation has to be one-on-one or start with you opening the app. Two Nomi AI features stand out. First, you can create several Nomis and put them in one group chat. People use it for roleplay, tabletop-style adventures and scenes with more than one character. Candy AI does not market this as a core feature.
Second, your Nomi can message you first. Nomi AI's own knowledge base says proactive messaging works on free accounts too, if it is switched on for that Nomi. If you run out of daily free messages, your Nomi can still message you, but you need to wait until the next day or upgrade to reply.
Images And Voice
Pictures and voice can make a chat feel different, but their limits matter before you pay. Nomi AI can send selfies and art that match what your Nomi is doing in the chat. According to Nomi's own comparison article, free accounts get 2 images per day and subscribers get 40 image credits per day. If an image fails, the credit is refunded automatically.
There is one hard limit. Nomi AI does not allow nude or explicit image generation. Its wiki says this is because of app store rules and credit card processing restrictions, and that the policy will not change soon. Clothed and flirty pictures are allowed.
Voice is part of paid plans. Nomi AI's guide says paid users can send and receive voice messages in real time and make hands-free calls. You can use Nomi's own voices or connect an ElevenLabs account for other voices.
Pricing
Before choosing a Nomi plan, compare the free access with the cost of committing for longer. Nomi AI has a free plan with 50 messages per day. According to Nomi AI's own comparison article (a blog post, not a dedicated pricing page), paid plans cost $15.99 per month, $39.99 per quarter and $99.99 per year. Going by those figures, the yearly plan works out to about $8.33 per month. On top of the plan, Nomi sells Nomi Credits in packs (from $4.99 for 40 credits in the US App Store) for extra images, video and other add-ons, and you need an active subscription to buy them.
Be aware that some third-party sites list older or different Nomi AI prices. We use the figures Nomi AI states on its own site and show the check date in the table above. Confirm the current price in the app or at checkout before you pay.
Memory And Chat Quality: Nomi AI Vs Candy AI
A companion needs to suit the way you like to talk, not just look good on a feature list. If memory and conversation are your top priority, Nomi AI is the closer fit on documented features. Its official pages emphasize short, medium and long-term memory.
Candy AI presents chat as one part of a package that also includes pictures, video and calls. We have not tested which app recalls details more accurately or produces better conversations.
Here is a simple way to decide. If you picture yourself opening the app each evening to continue the same story with the same person, pick Nomi AI. If you picture yourself opening the app for a quick scene, a photo or a voice note, Candy AI fits better.
One more point in Nomi AI's favor is the free plan. Fifty messages a day is enough to judge how a Nomi talks and remembers over several days. Candy AI's free access ends after 5 messages, which is enough to see the interface but not enough to judge memory.
A fair warning applies to both apps. AI companions can forget or mix up details, and results change with updates. Treat the advertised memory features as a reason to test the app yourself on a free plan, not as proof of better recall.
Images, Video And Voice
For these extras, the useful comparison is what each app offers and what using it costs. Candy AI wins this round. Its premium plan lists image generation, video generation and a live action experience. Nomi AI offers selfies, art and short videos generated from your images, starting at about 5 seconds, in SD or HD, though explicit content stays restricted. Videos draw from your daily requests first and then from Nomi Credits (6 credits for SD, 10 for HD), which are sold in packs on top of the subscription.
For voice, both apps offer voice messages and calls on paid plans. Candy AI charges tokens for phone calls (3 tokens per minute at the beta price shown on its character pages). Nomi AI includes voice on paid plans and does not list per-minute pricing on the pages we checked.
Token math for Candy AI voice: with 100 tokens per month and 3 tokens per minute, 100 tokens equals about 33 minutes of calls if you spend everything on calls. Images and video draw from the same pool, so heavy users can run out. Candy AI also sells extra tokens, but we could not confirm the official token pack prices, so check them in the app.
Our take: if pictures matter to you, Candy AI is the better pick. If you mostly talk and sometimes want a selfie, Nomi AI's daily image allowance is simpler, but video and extra images can still cost Nomi Credits.
NSFW Rules And Content Limits
Adult text and explicit pictures are different things, so do not assume one means you get the other. Both apps are for adults only, and both ban content involving minors. Candy AI's terms and its Underage Policy call this a zero-tolerance area, and Nomi AI has its own guardrails for extreme cases.
Candy AI: the premium plan lists 18+ image and 18+ video generation, and the company publishes a Blocked Content Policy that lists what is not allowed. Content that breaks the policy can be removed, and the terms say users are not refunded for content removed for breaking the rules. Adult use is clearly part of the product.
Nomi AI: adult roleplay in text is not something Nomi treats as off limits, and its wiki says the team does not want to tell people what to talk about. What Nomi does not allow is nude or explicit image generation. If explicit images are important to you, Candy AI is the clearer fit.
In short: Candy AI is the choice for explicit visuals. Nomi AI is the choice for text and voice conversation with no image content beyond clothed pictures. Whichever you pick, read the content policy before you pay, because rules can change.
Candy AI Vs Nomi AI Pricing
A low monthly headline price does not tell you how much you will pay over a year. Compare the billing options first, then think about any extras you expect to use. Here is the cost across a full year, using the published prices. Nomi AI figures are as stated by Nomi AI in its own comparison article.
If you want the cheapest year, Candy AI wins by a wide margin: $47.88 against $99.99 (per Nomi AI) on the yearly plans. On monthly billing the gap shrinks to $24.00 per year.
Using both apps for a year on yearly plans costs $147.87 ($47.88 plus $99.99, using the yearly price stated by Nomi AI). That is about $12.32 per month, and it is a real option. Use Candy AI for pictures and calls, and Nomi AI for the long-running conversation.
Two cost warnings. First, Candy AI's yearly price is a single upfront payment of $47.88, and the terms say subscription prices can increase, with advance notice before an auto-renewal at a higher price. Second, tokens are limited. If you use images and calls a lot, expect to spend your 100 monthly tokens quickly.
Is it worth it? For most people, a yearly plan only makes sense after you have tested the app on a monthly plan or a free plan. Candy AI's general subscription refund rule is a 24-hour request window, no more than 20 tokens used, and card purchases only.
Nomi AI Vs Kindroid Vs Candy AI
Many readers comparing Nomi AI, Kindroid and Candy AI want to know where the third app fits. Kindroid gives you another way to think about the choice: how much control you want over your companion. This short comparison explains where it fits without turning this guide into a full three-way review.
Kindroid is the customization app. It is known for detailed control over how your companion behaves, with written rules and backstory. Per Kindroid's subscription documentation, its web plan is $13.99 per month and the app store price is $15.99 per month, with a yearly web price of $139.99. Its free tier is limited, so check the current terms before you sign up.

Privacy, Cancellation And Refunds
The price is only part of the decision. You also need to know what happens to your chats, how to stop renewal and whether you can get your money back. Read these terms before paying, rather than waiting until you want to leave.
Candy AI: you can cancel any time in Settings, using the unsubscribe option. Your subscription stays active until the end of the paid period. After that your account goes back to the free version, and unused tokens expire.
Refunds: the general subscription/non-token purchase rule in section 10.4.1 gives you 24 hours after payment to request a refund, denies requests if you used more than 20 tokens, and limits subscription refunds to card purchases. It also excludes technical issues on the user's side. Token purchases have a separate rule in section 10.4.2: request within 24 hours, no refund if the purchased tokens were used, and card purchases only.
Purchases made in error are not guaranteed a refund unless the error was on Candy AI's side. These general rules are not the whole picture. Section 10.4.3 sets out applicable EU/UK statutory withdrawal rights: a 14-day withdrawal period for the initial purchase, expiring 14 days from the purchase-confirmation email, with reimbursement less a prorated amount for services consumed.
Nomi AI: you can cancel any time, and you keep your benefits until the end of the current billing period. Nomi says subscription purchases are nonrefundable. Nomi also says chats are anonymized and that no chat data is shared with third-party sites.
A practical tip for both: before you pay, check how to cancel, and set a calendar reminder for the renewal date. A yearly plan renews automatically unless you cancel first.
